I loved this, the stories so beautifully and visually told. I had to laugh out loud at your memory of calling me a Big Ole Rat, or perhaps that was recounted in your baby book - either way it was such an expression of your defiance at the time.
Haha you wrote about it in my baby book, but I also think you told me the story when I was a kid. Why is "Big Ol Rat" just so funny!? Makes me (and Toullah) absolutely dissolve into laughter every time I tell it. That story is one of her faves :)
Gosh this was a delight! What a beautiful way to record and remember the mundane, because despite all the hardship, that is where the goodness lies.
I remember hearing parents say how they saved their kids' baby teeth and thinking how freaking creepy. Remember the dollhouse tiles in Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn?!? And alas, Q has lost two teeth and they are sitting in an emptied out Play-Doh container in my office closet because I just couldn't throw them away!
Kren 100% saved all my baby teeth and I have them in a little tiny jar in our office. I also was going through some files she dropped off (old artwork, report cards, etc.) and found an envelope with 2 more of my teeth. Classic!! I will definitely be saving my children's teeth so you're in good company.
Toddler snuggles >> teeing no oxytocin like it
BEST POST EVER, Maddie!!! It’s been over 3 decades since mine were this age, and your piece brought it all right back! Xoxo
Love to hear that! I hope posts like these will serve as a little memory book of their own sort when my kids go back and (maybe?) read them one day.
